Rise and Shine! Have you noticed waking up is so hard to do? We have! So...here at the Recovery Center we get up real late...at 7:00 a.m.! Our first meeting begins Monday through Friday at 8:30! This gives everyone plenty of time to sprinkle a little water on their face, grab some coffee, and locate their Bibles before our first meeting begins. There we are going to see! Our eyes will be opened to a new way, and world! Yes, possibly for the first time! We will see the King of Glory, then ourselves, others, our world, and the culture we live in. Knowledge...embedded in biblical wisdom is the pathway toward discerning the meaning and reality of health, wealth, and happiness! Knowing Him grants the power, the motivation, the ability to break the shackles of addiction! At 10:00 AM everyone has a house chore to perform. When 10:30 AM rolls around, we individually break out our workbooks. These books cover both theological and practical aspects of living. From defining the character of God to overcoming various personal issues in our lives. The Holy Spirit will use the material to help the individual see and unravel many of his own difficulties. Life becomes exciting again, as the individual watches himself experiencing the ability, and insight to make right decisions. That, "I'm starting to feel good about life again" feeling arrives! Lunch is at 12:00 PM.
Outside appointments are made in the afternoon. Shopping for the house, personal study, workshops etc. will be conducted at this time. Some people have "Community Service" which can be realized at this time. Every man will be expected to cook dinner once a week. Assistance will be given, if requested. Outside appointments are made in the afternoon. Shopping for the house, personal study, workshops etc. will be conducted at this time. Some people have "Community Service" which can be realized at this time. Every man will be expected to cook dinner once a week. Assistance will be given, if requested. We strive to establish a family atmosphere. Therefore, the house will function accordingly. We are there for self-development, but also to assist in the development of others.
After dinner we will either have a house meeting or attend a Recovery Program. Wednesday nights a local church service will usually be attended. Whenever the meetings are over everyone is free to relax, watch television, play cards, board game, etc. At 10:00 PM everyone should be in their rooms and lights out at 11 PM.
On Saturday mornings, whenever possible, we will have a community project. Upon our return, approximately 2:00-3:00 PM, the rest of Saturday is down time. The men can relax. On Saturday mornings, whenever possible, we will have a community project. Upon our return, approximately 2:00-3:00 PM, the rest of Saturday is down time. The men can relax. Sunday we will find ourselves in church. There we will meet new people, and hear what God has to say to us through the preacher. Some men will eventually be working everyday, or attending various classes. Everyone will be in various phases of the rogram. Some will be transitioning out of the program, while new men will be entering.
At this time there is no charge. We are supported by various churches and individuals. Eventually, when a man begins working he will be expected to pay 20% of his net income to the house. During the final phase, as the man looks toward transitioning into the community this percentage may be lowered.
We review applicants quickly. Once the application is sent and reviewed an introductory meeting will be set up between the director and the applicant. If all the necessary information is present, then a decision will be made within 24 hours.
A man should expect to commit for at least 6 months to 1 year. Education, finding God, developing new habits, relationships, improving job skills, locating a job, and housing takes time. If you are still in the "big hurry" mode of life... well, then Recovery Through Christ Center may not be for you. We desire men who are serious about settling down, getting sober, and are not seeking the quick fix. We are here to present a Biblical World View and lifestyle, which affects every area of a man's life, not only his present concern toward addiction.
That is wonderful! You actually desire sobriety! This time you will be introduced to the Lord's method of recovery. This is a program which opens a man's life toward allowing God to relate, assist, and minister to him. We need the ability, we need the power to change, and the one who created us has that power! When we closed the door on him we placed serious limitations upon ourselves. This time we will establish all other relationships upon our primary relationship with Christ. As we get straight with him, we will get straight with others. It is not of our nature, or ability, but living life in the supernatural which makes the difference! That is what God intended from the beginning.
Of course you do! We all do! And we all sensed what you are talking about! That emptiness, the void. The feeling there has to be something more, but what is it? That is why Jesus...God is not the final step, rather the first step toward recovery. He removes the void! God has a wonderful plan for your life; not me, not the good Doctor, or the local AA Group. Only a relationship with Christ can provide that motivation to get straight and to stay straight. In my case, I did not have a reason to get sober. I needed a reason, a purpose, something greater then simply staying sober cause other people wanted me to be sober. I didn't care about what other people wanted until Jesus changed my heart! See...our problem is our heart attitude, and Jesus has the ability to change our attitudes, our everything! So we go straight to the source of the solution...we begin with Jesus! The very person many of us tried to avoid is the very person who removes the void and makes life worth living!
